Hi all again and thanks to everyone who helped me with my ant queen.
I have returned back home to middlesbrough from manchester and I think I have found eggs in the queens chamber. she is also protective of the eggs because when I looked at them she stood over them so I put my tee shirt back over the tank to keep her calm.
now my air holes are small enough to keep the queen in but not anything else so when will the little fellas start running around like little kids lol.
Cheers. hopefully this keeps up and I will have my first colony.

Its exciting isn't it when you get a queen, then she lays eggs. She will tend to them for up to 12 weeks until they finally hatch into larvae. Heres a trick for you if your air holes are to big! Take a piece of selotape (wide tape) and fold it in half so that none of the sticky side is showing. The put it over the previous air holes. Take another piece of selotape, and stick it in place. We use the selotape so you can see where the previous air holes are. Now take a needle, and carefully create new smaller air holes where the old ones are, trying not to make them to large this time...hope that helps.
