I am sad to report the death of my m.rubra queen the queen had two larvae with it and a bunch of eggs, I still do not know why the queen died, I will try to find out in the next couple of days I will be replacing the colony, but I do not know what to get. If anybodys got any idea on what colony to get please post here Thanks, Jack

Sorry to hear that Jack Have you considered trying a monogyn species like Lasius or Tetramorium, as both seem to do really well in captivity

Hi Jack , Sorry to here that, how about L.flavus or Tetramorium impurum? They are both safe and an easy specie to keep. I have T.impurum and I think there great, they are very interesting and do not try escaping like other species do, but they do sting like rubra. Chris

Well, I advise a tank as when you but pray in(flies) they make a mound with the flie in it. With the plaster of paris you cannot.
