Strictly speaking, yes you can; but apart from these ants costing a small fortune, it could prove rather dangerous keeping army ants Besides which, army ants are nomadic and impossible to keep in captivity! Getting Bulldog ants would be difficult also, as you can buy a Queen from Antstore in Germany; but the price is very high.

bulldog ants yes. Various people I heard have kept them, not sure how colonies went so. I don't know much about them.
Army ants so are impossible to keep in captivity. Various zoos in the U.S have tried and no matter how much space the army ants get they die a few days after being caught.

Owning these ants is not a problem, as long as there are no laws against venomous animals which "bulldog" ants would be considered I would assume.
Ven, army ants are keepable, the one zoo had them going fine, they got a bad cricket shipment with some bad parasites and it killed the colony, had nothing to do with them failing. -_-;;

Can you keep other carnivores like driver ants?

The thing with army ants and driver ants is they need a HUGE space to live in, not sure how much the zoo used in acres but probably as much or more.

As has been mentioned army ants do very poorly in captivity, space is certainly an issue however I suspect there are other unknown factors as well. Even colonies which did not fail due to bad food, experience a continual drop in population size over time indicating a gradual decline which will ultimately lead to it's death. Driver ants would be even closer to impossible to keep, not to mention the danger in keeping them, they are very nasty to deal with due to the huge colony size and bad temperment, compared to Dorylus, bulldog ants are kittens.
