I had to smile at the latest photos Kyle has placed on his journal. Glad to see that Jen and I aren't the only ones who get the odd worker ant going for a walkabout, as we often find one or two on her bedroom floor or even exploring our bathroom ;D Good journal nest mate

I have just been looking at your pics Kyle and love keeping up to date with reading your journal, as it is so fascinating You are doing great with that colony, must be all the freedom and great food you give them The pics really capture their activity, you will have to persuade dad to contribute to a video camera too

Nice to see your Acromyrmex doing well. Was wondering how much vegetation you feed them aday.

No thats ok, I thought I had a comments thread already oh well. Lol I do, I have a 60Lbs Crusader compound, I just got kinda cocky, did something stupid and mucked up in the semi-final, bit I'll still blame the bow it's about 8 years old lol , I'd love to get a English longbow/warbow they just look lovely and are powerful, but you only fire what you draw with them. Thank you, that can vary from day to day, but they never eat more than about 35cm2 (in one day) but I try and get about 10-30 cm2 (if you can kinda imagine it all laid out flat and depending how much they had the day before), the hardest bit is trying to get something different every day, the reason I do that is if for some reason or another I can't get what I was planning on, I can just skip to the next days food (I have a cycle of what they get on each day makes things easier). During winter tho it becomes harder, more so this year as its grow considerably since last winter, but they love oatmeal (organic) so thats an easy option. Kyle

As long as the muck up you dint do a "arrow roulette" with bow in semi-final ;D Though in winter it would be hard to feed them a bit. Seen videos of them on youtube and colony can eat as much as a sheep or goat, But there maybe relay big and old colony's they was talking about, But nice to know. Knowing me. I'd let them lose on back garden to keep grass down in summer, then again they could just Climb over next doors fence and eat all of her rose's and flowers

As long as the muck up you dint do a "arrow roulette" with bow in semi-final ;D pardon? sorry that might make sense at a more reasonable time lol I think most of the videos that say things along them lines are normally referring to Atta, as there colony's are often a few million strong, rather than a few hundred thousand, which is still a lot ;D Come to think about it, I don't think I've ever tried grass, weeds that you get in the grass yes, but never grass , thats changed todays menu, I kind of hope they do like it as that would make winter a lot easier Oh would I so like to let them has a go at my next doors plants, she'd have a fit ;D (where's an evil smily when you need one lol) Kyle

I can confirm that, they don't like grass, they just make a mess with it instead KyleAt least you tryed them with grass to see if they liked it or not to grow there fungi of it, Think English grass I think looses too much moisture I think once its picked and drys up to fast unlike hot rain Forest grass thats like hard as nails and sharp as blades, In Spain when I was little year's and years ago when I went with my aunt, they used to have rain Forest grass for there hotel gardens cos they keep green though out the really hot summer desert months with watering grass at night, I though it would be nice and soft grass till I cut my feet on its really hard surface and ended up with infections, Think it put me off walking on grass in my bear feet for life after that

Well I might try Wheat grass, as I can buy that cheaply up Sainsbury (seeds) if not the Messor can have the seeds. Never would have thought someone could get cut on a blade of grass, I'd imagine it would feel somewhat like a paper cut Kyle
