Is there anyone that would be willing to sell me a queen? Preferably one of a smaller species (smaller than solenopsis invicta) As I live in the USA and The Antstore does not deliver to USA. Anyone interested? If possible a queen with some brood and a few workers, but just a queen would be fine.

Isn't there laws or something in the USA to do with Ants, etc.. Don't you need a license or something for the keeping of them.. Not sure if it's true.. I've just heard it quite a lot around this board and Ant store websites.. I don't know if Edu-Sci deliver to USA.. But you could always check if you want.. Look in the top of this board at the links and there you go... Anyway, I'm pretty sure that there are some sort of laws concerning ants, etc in the USA....

You can't buy or sell queens in the USA, it's illegal, you need a permit or something. Only way to get them is to collect them yourself after they have mated This has been talked about a lot. Shawn

Only by finding your own ants, or asking someone within the same state, or sometimes even the same county lines, can you obtain a certain species or genus

You know these companies do not sell to the USA because of your laws, then do not expect members to break laws by sending a queen from their country to the USA The only chance you have is finding somebody from your own State to sell/or give you a queen.

Actually Jenant, I wasn't sure of the laws regarding the transfer of ants in my state/country. I just figured the UK stores did not want to deliver to the states for some unknown reason. But to everyone else thanks for setting me straight on that. I guess I'll be waiting for the mating season to come around
