Hi everyone. Right, I am a bit confused at the moment. I captured a wingless queen Lasius niger like a month ago along with 2 others which sadly died. I had her in an ant works (I know, they are horrid but I am new to this whole ant thing). Anyway she didn't dig or anything and just sat on the surface. Anyways she laid some eggs after about 3 days of having her. I had kept her in complete darkness till the other day when I got my ant world. I carefully scooped under a section of gel and lifted her out along with her eggs and put them in the magnifying box attached to my ant world. It has been about a month now and the eggs have still not changed into larvae or anything and she just runs around the magnifying box. I have tried putting a little bit of food in and have put a moist cotton bud in but nothing seems to be happening. Any ideas as to what I can do to make her move herself and her eggs into the actual farm itself and not the magnifying box and also how long it will take for the eggs to develop a bit more.

She probably likes it in the foraging box, as she has food and moisture there. Maybe she will move out later if she gets workers, so perhaps you should leave her where she is and hope for the best

Strange, eggs laid a month ago should be larvae by now. In fact first generation normally only take about 10 days or less to become larvae. Maybe the gel has inhibited the development of the eggs in some way?

She might just stay in the feeding area if she feels safe. Another solution if you have the sand/peat moist in the Antworld, is to take the green top part off, and slowly drop her and the eggs straight into the sand with the eggs, and replace the top.
This would give her a faster chance of digging in, and then I would remove the connecting pipe and feeder for a while, as it is not needed until the first workers appear..

She might have ate the eggs(or even lavae) and then laid some more.

Be patient and keep waiting, my queen I got in July only just had its first workers.
I was about to give up hope with her, but all is looking well and already 2 other eggs, already another one is on the way.
