I some time ago now, caught one Lasius nger queen from the flying season. I placed her in a tube, filled with sand, and air holes. I then placed her in a location under my computer, and inside somewhat of a box, so it was dark and somewhat warm as her being in the house. Every now and then I would check on her, and she began to dig until she made her chamber. I think she has sealed herself in, however she doesn't seem to be laying any eggs, any suggestions please? Also I will be ordering a set up and Lasius niger Queen and some workers from Antstore soon. So where should I locate her, would a shed be ok? It doesn't reach too much of a cold temperature. Thanks. ![:D](http://www.cosgan.de/images/more/bigs/c027.gif)

seeing that your in the U.K. All the ants over there will be hibernating. They won't be laying eggs or doing much if they do anything at all.

The shed is fine Josh; if you think the set up is too thin as in as much as the frost might get to them, then put a box or something thicker over them to insulate the glass from the cold. Living up north, you will get some pretty sharp ones no doubt ![;)](http://www.cosgan.de/images/more/bigs/c033.gif) My shed is full of ventilation, where the slats don't meet and have warped over the years, so if I was too keep ants in it, they would have to have more protection than just their formicarium
