I don't think a small amount of mould will be a problem, but keep the set up on the dry side to avoid it spreading as it may harm any eggs

Unless it is a fuzzy mold it should only be a problem when it comes to seeing your ants, usually a colony will outgrow a small plaster set up before you have any problem seeing them.

ok here is the pic of the nest, I know what is going mouldy now is the play doh that was mixed with the plaster, when I poured the plaster on the mould. the circles I have put on the pic are where the mould is and I have seen it is kind of fuzzy, but it seems to only be on the areas where the play doh is, I couldn't get of the plaster if it gets any worse I will do a new plaster nest to be on the safe side

Play dough is made with natural ingredients, and will go mouldy. I suggest you build a new set up, I know it's expensive but its better to get it right than get it wrong and have to change the set up, with a large colony like I'm going to have to do.

ok I will keep my Messor colony in a small curry tub till I have the new plaster nest. Do not also you say you use vaselin to do the plaster nest bit but do you smear it on the side of the tank, or just around the edges?
