Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've been on here, hope everyone is doing ok, I just finished my first year chemistry and passed that, so am glad. Am going to Ethiopia in Africa for the next 6 weeks, was wondering what kind of ants I may expect to see there, my friend who went last year just said very long lines of army ants, she wasn't impressed as they bit her feet . Hope everyone is ok and has had a great year.

aren't driver ants a type of army ants? Sort of, but their raids are much deadlier as Army ants don't eat very large mammals, whereas Driver ants have been known to kill and eat people and also strip a full grown elephant right down to the bones. Army ants (e.g. Eciton) may have colonies of maybe up to 2 million at most, while African Drivers (Dorylus) can have as many as 20 million individuals per colony; and all from just 1 queen too which I find absolutely incredible
