this journal is dedicated to 3 wild ants I caught and put into one of those 2-d ant farms. after one week they have tunneled very far in all directions possible and assigned jobs to one another. one preforms tunnel maintenance another forages while the third guards the nest entrance. I think this type of social behavior is amazing! I mean 3 ants being cut off from their ruling body and thrown in with 2 other ants that are strangers(to some extent) and preforming like they would in the wild, except less ants. I find it amazing! but feel free to add any of your own comments please

well in America you cannot ship queen ants, and I am afraid that they might forget their original smell, plus its interesting to know what ants would do in small numbers.

not without digging a colony up and the mating flights have already come and gone the ants have excavated their home to a full 3 chambers! they use one to put moldy food in another to store food and another to live in

Flip rocks trying to find a polygyne that way you won't wipe the colony out or destroy their home.

Queen ants cannot be shipped in the US? Is that law?
I'm assuming that concerns all living things?
