Yesterday I recieved 6 Myrmica rubra queens (or maybe another Myrmica Sp.) from The Queen Ant shop run by the member Jameslovell. When they arrived one was curled up and not moving apart from the odd antenae flicker so I decided to seperate the other queens from it placing them in a new testube filled with sugar water. They have settled in well now and fed from maggot pupae last night, however they have yet to lay eggs and came with no brood To my surprise the last queen eventually uncurled and now seems fine although she still walks a bit unsurely. I may boost the the 5 queen colony and also the single queen if I can find a large Myrmica nest soon as winter is coming and I want this colony big enough to move into a celcon nest I have ready

Sadly these queens are not doing well at all... Since I got them I have tried to introduce them into loads of set ups but each time I come back and look and they are just curled up in the sand. I lost 1 queen transferring them from a jar I tried to keep them in and now only 1 queen seems healthy and is looking around on the surface of a sandy container I'm keeping them in. The 4 remaining queens are just curled up with little flickers from their antennae. I will keep trying too feed them both insects and honey/sugar water but they seem to have little interest in these or in tunneling for that matter.
