Hi guys I want to introduce to you my small Pogonomyrmex colony. They currently live in a testube in a small ferrero rochea box. I got this colony as just the queen back in August and thanks to god she now has 2 workers. Considering she only has two workers this small colony forages all the time. I have been making a home for them when they get bigger. This hopefuly will be the start to a great blog. Please comment!

Well I got her from a person who imported 4 from Arizona. He sold 3 to to someone in Europe. I bought her for 35 pound.

Very good job on the tank that they will eventually live in. I love the natural desert look. Oh yes, and welcome to the forum.

Can I please ask why they died? I just want to learn from your mistakes if any. They were kept in damp sand which when it dried out it collapsed in on them and buried the queen alive. By the time we found out it was to late.

Hi arcc,
Your ants look great.
As I'm sure you are aware they have a really painful sting. Although they are apparently not very aggressive so you should be fine, just be careful with them.
All the best
James

Hey guys, sorry I haven't updated in such a long time but my colony is growing well. update time. Well they now have about 15+ workers and the queen is laying very well. They currently still live in a testube. I feed them 3 baby roaches every 2-3 days. They love seeds but don't seem to like honey water any more. pictures: The weather has been so nice recently I even took the tank out side for some fresh air and for the lovely sun. At this very moment in time the colony is moving testube as they need a cleaner one. I will take more pictures later of the colony in their new testube.

Do they ever try to escape through the air slats in the tank lid?
