I recieved a red headed Messor barbarus queen yesterday in a tube with some seeds. The previous owner told me that she had laid eggs before, but they disappeared. Possibly eaten by her. In any case, she has not laid eggs since, and now I have her. I relocated her to a small pot with a good bit of sandy soil inside and some fresh seeds. after feeding on some seeds and honey, she got to work this afternoon on digging a long tunnel. The future looks bright for her therefore. It's a fascinating species!

The queen dug a chamber at the end of her tunnel against the side of the pot, but there is a thin layer of sand blocking view. I hope she lays eggs.

Not much to report, she hasn't done much recently...
