OK, one of my queens has died and left behind four first gen pupae. another queen ate her first brood and hasn't laid any more eggs, so I gave her the pupae (after giving her some honey water which she jumped on) she seems to be taking care of them but I am concerned that they will attack her when they hatch? also, I know that queens aren't supposed to eat or drink while they are watching over their first batch, but I went around to my other expectant mothers and gave them all some water, and they gulped it down greedily, so I'm hoping that improved their chances.

hi, it should work because queens normally except other ant eggs. Good luck

ye it works, I had some queens dying and gave there eggs to my living queens, and I got one very decent developping nest now with workers and all you can even take eggs from outside (same species) and boost your own nest, they will think the queen is there own once they hatch but don't boost to much, it will put a strain on your queen and workers, to much eggs is also a bad thing !

They will not attack your queen when they become ants either, she would have raised them so they would look on her as their queen.

actually if you put too many eggs in there the ants do attack the queen. This has been known to happen a few times and has been mentioned on here before.

yes very true, if you put too many eggs and pupae from the same colony I do not KNOW HOW and do not KNOW WHY, but the ants after about a week seem to realize that the queen they're rearing is not there own and actually attack and kill the false queen.
It has happened to me several times when I was younger with Laisius, Myrmecocystus, Tetra
but it still can work.
so only put enough to boost, but make sure your queens eggs and pupae out weigh and out number the booster brood!
