Those of you who have known our pets for a long time will remember Chester, our Himalayan cat. He was fine this morning and went out for a stroll around our garden as was his daily routine, then he came in for a warm up on Jen's lap and sat by her side on the chair arm. Then at 2.30 PM he suddenly jerked his head and went into a short fit, most probably from a massive stroke and heart attack. Just 17 seconds later he peacefully passed away in the arms of his mum Jen. He will be very sadly missed, as earlier today we were only saying he was about her age now at 52 (10 in cat years) and he should live about 4 more years at least; then suddenly we find he has died. It was so fast the shock is only just hitting us, as he had such a great character and was a real athletic runner when he was younger, sprinting across the green like a cheetah. We have just buried him in the garden, which was a favourite spot of his for sunbathing, and placed a memorial over his grave. R.I.P. Chessy.

Thinking of you both, I know there is nothing worse than losing a beloved pet.

Thanks Crockatt, nothing prepares you for the shock. One minute I was stroking him, next he had gone with no warning in my arms

Found this post by accident while browsing. So sad to hear that you have lost Chester. But it was nice to hear that he passed away peacefully in his mums arms. He went while being loved x

It is now just coming up toward midnight here in England, and normally I would disturb the cat and hear him scratching on the kitchen door. I still find it hard to believe he's dead, as I still think he will tap at the door or start his deep Persian meow. He would have been 10 in August this year, so his rather premature demise has left a big hole in our home.
Thanks for the kind words ladies, as to know him was to love him; and he knew how to get the attention of those he liked with his wicked sense of humour, charm and charisma.

Sorry to here about Chester. Pets become family too so I know how hard it can be to lose pets.
