Hello everyone it's me again and this time Honey pot ants have me really really interested (to be honest these were the ones that helped me get the interest in Ants as well as someone else) but I need to find a good information source so if any one could help us out or even point me in the right direction it would be great . I'm not sure if this is like a massive jump from Lasius niger to Honey pot ants as I understand they need high temperatures ? but I don't think this will be a problem for me considering the amount of reptiles and amphibians I have kept over the last 8+ years and having to have the right temp gradient for them . Thankyou Scott.

Have you checked out the Ant Links on the bar below the banner, as I presume you want to buy Myrmecocystus species? Not all ant sellers stock them, as they have to import newly mated queens from the USA.

Yes, I had a mated queen of the species Myrmecocystus mimicus from Martin, as he sometimes imports ants from Arizona. All perfectly legal I might add, but he rarely has ants at this time of the year.

Yep their the ones Wood~Ant.
I understand they need to be kept in deep nests for there repletes to be able to hang upside down in the chambers and I know they need high temperatures so I have an idea of how to keep the temperatures up is with a Vivarium like used for reptiles but inside would be another tank (there nest) and then it going off to their foraging area, the vivarium is their to basically hold the heat well enough for them.
Does that sound like something possible to do ?.
