Hi all, just wondering how do you tell when to hibernate your ants if they are in a heated home? Do you just do it regardless of temperature inside and put them in the loft or do you have to do it gradually? So if your ant hibernates from september to march, at the end of september put them in the loft or shed? Thanks guys I'm learning loads from reading the posts.

Last year with mine, I put them in an unheated room first then onto proper hibernation, and vis-virsa after hibernation

I use observation and a bit of common sense. When the first frost of winter sends plants and wild animals into sleep mode, then allow your ants to hibernate unless they are a tropical species.
