After much hunting and searching, I found a website that is excellent for those of us in the States. Tar Heel Ants. Go and check them out, if you're on my side of the pond. I am highly impressed, and have been emailing with the admin of the site. I also ordered some supplies from them, and am trying to decide which formicarium I will get when the time comes. Decisions, decisions! Wulfe

Yes, Mordam is a member here who updates now and again. A bit pricey for us here in the Uk on the postage if you are sending for anything of weight. link

I can imagine, Jen! But before this, I was looking at UK and Euro sites as possibilities, so I'm just glad to have something to share with other US members.

I am considering them as I have a large Lasius Niger colony and am considering a different species to keep as well now I have a bit more confidence. I have always used queen ant shop or Antstore, may go for the Pinnacle but yes.. its expensive!

I have two Tar Heel ant nests (Buried Traditions and Chaos frame) and two foraging areas (Serenity and multi form). They are great set-ups and Mack the owner is very helpful. I personally think these are worth the money but as everyone has mentioned you can get stung by import tax.
Drop Mack an e-mail as I said he is happy to help.

brilliant recommendation, sapsey. I'm glad I don't have to worry about the import tax, just shipping, and he's only one state away from me, so things get to me fast.
I'm definitely getting something from him within the next couple of weeks, my little queen is proceeding nicely and has 10 larvae already.

Yes I got a quote for the dire pinnacle but at £300 its just way out of my budget! I'll keep an eye out for special offers though.

He has also come up with a replacement for the test tube. Its called a growth chamber. Flooding has been my biggest problem to date but not anymore I still use test tubes, but for special queens I use a growth chamber.

I understand shipping overseas can cost a lot but not all his stuff is high priced.
