For all us folks in the UK, in the last week, and for the next 10 days the ISS will be passing overhead. Tonight was the first night it had been clear enough for me to see it pass over, and disappear behind my house. I don't think I have ever been as excited to see a small dot of light I'm not exactly a stargazer, but I find it fascinating that in that dot of light, there are 6 people floating about. And it's amazing how fast it is travelling. I would urge you to try and get a look at it over the next few days, it might not excite everyone but it's not something you will see every day. You can find the approximate times it will be visible here www.meteorwatch.org/uk-iss-passes-august-2013.html

I remember getting excited when I watched a meteor fly across the night sky once. Not because it was a bright light, but at the speed it shot above me. Just to the south of us in Selsey we had the well known Sky at Night presenter Patrick Moore, who used to use his telescope in his garden to watch events such as this. I am not normally outside after it gets dark, but I will try and have a look at the night sky if it doesn't get too cloudy for the Space Station passing over.
