Hello all not being on in along time as my first queen died with out progressing too laying eggs. Now I have getting a queen with 11/20 workers from (queenantshop) which is nice and active. I am keeping them in a ytong nest connected to Wild science Ant-O Sphere, which I have made a hole in to drop seeds in making this there foraging area. There is 4 port holes for them in the ytong (1) has the ant-o sphere (2) has test tub with water (3)and(4) have long tubs to nowhere, I was thinking that they would use the long tubs as there rubbish dump, but they keep carrying one dead worker around the nest. Can anyone help on this matter thank you

Basically the ants will decide where is the best place for their midden, and they will put the dead worker ant there. It might not be one of the spheres they choose, but leave the ants to that decision.

They have decided to use the seed pod as their dump, and it looks like they are using the tubing to forage for seeds .

They have decided to use the seed pod as their dump, and it looks like they are using the tubing to forage for seeds . Often ants of the same species use different places or tactics. My silver tank Messor barb colony always use the same 2 places on the soil surface to place old seeds and dead workers, whereas my blue tank colony will climb up the sides of their tank and push all rubbish under the lip of the lid. This is fine until I remove the lid as then all the rubbish falls out all over the place, which may also include living ants too. As long as you are able to clean out the midden your colony has chosen then it shouldn't be a problem.
