More large flights from our local L. flavus nests have just happened. Jen picked up another 8 mated queens, so these will be added for sale once they have started to lay eggs. For now comes the fun part of placing the newly mated queens into test tubes.

All the captive queens of both species have laid eggs, with some of the niger eggs already becoming first stage larvae. I expect some of these to form colonies by early September, so the price will go up by £2 extra for a colony if anyone wants to wait until later this year.

A copy of the original advert on previous page. I collect a limited amount, for how many test tubes we have. PM Wood or myself. They will always be sent 1st class Mon to Thurs only.
P&P costs are charged at £2 on all ants I sell, so the price will vary if a member decides to buy say 4 Lasius flavus queens which are priced at 2 (both in one test tube) for £7 which includes P&P.The price for 4 queens will be £10 plus £2 for P&P, making the total cost £12.As I am limited to stocks, I prefer to sell no more than 4 queens to any one member. So if you want just 2 L. flavus queens you pay £7, or add on £5 for 4 queens; but this is limited to the number I have. Lasius niger prices remain fixed at £5 for 2 queens.Queens of both Lasius species will only be sent once they have a good clutch of eggs/larvae; and no cheque will be cashed until your ants have been posted with brood. If you do send cash, please remember it is at your own risk if this goes missing in the post; and do not send a large amount over the value of £5.Any profit made by the sale will go to a wildlife charity.

Most of the L. niger have now been sold, though I do have a few left. Flavus queens now stand at 10 sold ( 5 pairs) and there are a further 5 pairs still for sale. Members who have ordered queens will have them posted off within 24 hours of receiving their money, which is either mailed the same day or the day after unless it is Friday, in which case their queens will be sent the following Monday by First Class.

Two more pairs of flavus queens just ordered. These girls go fast, so Jen is going to keep her eyes on the nests that are yet to fly in case we need a few more, as like us members seem to love this ants golden honey coloured workers. Hmmmm, sweet honey ( in a Homer Simpson voice with tongue out and drooling)

My Lasius flavus queens have arrived in good health this morning and they have a good pile of eggs (even though they're not in a pile after a rough journey!) Thank you Wood and Jen!

What few niger queens I have left now have larvae as well as eggs. Flavus queens brood is not so far developed as they are still in the egg stage, but some eggs show signs of hatching within the next 2 to 3 days as they tend to change shape a bit prior to becoming larvae.

Most of my remaining L. niger now have cocooned pupae and well developed larvae. The flavus are also getting more larvae as eggs hatch out. Anyone who buys 4 flavus queens for £12 will get a niger queen free while stocks last. P&P included in the price.
PM me if you are interested.

If you ordered 2 pairs of Lasius flavus would you be able to put them together so you had a group of 4 instead of 2 groups of 2.
