It's highly unlikely that you have seen both Camponotus modoc and Camponotus pennsylvanicus in the same area. Can you explain why Miles? It would be a great help to both Canadian and USA ant collectors. Camponotus modoc is found west of the Rocky Mountains and is a subspecies of Camponotus pennsylvanicus. C. pennsylvanicus is found east of the Rocky Mountains. There are no known exceptions to this rule and the only true identifier between species is by location, mature colony size, or through genetic testing.

I thought not, as Canadian laws are much the same as in the USA regarding ants.

Yes, Canadian laws state that live ants cannot cross the Canadian border, but they can cross the province borders.

I think so, but I don't think any pest insects (termites, etc. ) are allowed at all, and I'm not sure if you can buy queen bees from other countries.

I think you'd need a permit for the bee queens, and of course that would depend upon the type of bee we are talking about. Obviously queen Africanised honeybees are out of the question.[which wouldn't survive are winters unless properly insulated and even then they could still die off.]

I meant Apis mellifera, the common honey bee.

CG Ants has started to get a very bad reputation recently with customers. Faulty goods, ants in poor condition, or no orders arriving. Poor communication, a lot of people won't buy from them anymore as they cannot be trusted to provide a satisfactory service. CG Ants Review
