We had a massive storm here tonight, with thunder and lightning every few seconds. It scared our dogs with the loud bangs and violent flashes. This one was a real mother of thunder storms, but we are told that the big one will be tomorrow night as the temperature soars up to around 90 F. during the day
I wonder if the local ant nests of Lasius flavus and L. niger knew, as the rain was torrential for about an hour; and the ants had some very big flights today, although they usually fly after heavy rain and not before it.

Our Lhasa Apso snored on through the night But our tri colour Cav Bess, trotted up my bed and burrowed her head under my pillow panicking. Our other bleneim Cav Katy, kept jumping out of her skin with the bangs. They reckon wer're in for another dose tonight, no sign of any queen ants today...

I was up at 1AM watching the storm, also had to keep an hour vigil with the dog to calm her down. Apparently there may be another one tonight. That's the most spectacular storm we've had in the south for quite a while.

Not a button here. Clear all night and all day. Ireland has very few thunderstorms compared to GB!

I could see the lightning just off in the distance, but it the storm didn't actually come over us. I took over 100 pictures whilst trying to get the lightning but by around half eleven my camera batteries were both dead so I gave up.

Your better taking a video . will get lots in a short film like on tv.

Out of 286 photos, this is the only one I got with lightening in it. The settings are: Aperture/3.2 Shutter speed: 1/8 sec ISO: 400 And yes Shane, I should have filmed really.

Still better than me Chicken, as I was so amazed by the phenomenon I never thought about getting a camera or camcorder to record it.
