They have moved into the large Ant Motif Ytong nest which I did throw out, but then decided to put in our shed as it was paid for, and my dad always used to say "waste not want not" so it is on a trial test to see if they like living in it. So far all but 5 workers have moved in, and it was fun watching the very smallest workers carrying and dragging the 3 queens and very large workers up the tubing.

Your new girls look nice, like a cross between C. velox and F. rufa. Good to see a wood ant species moved into an artificial nest so fast.

Hope they do well and the 3 queens produce hundreds or workers.

Very interesting colony you have Wood. I have never seen this species being kept before.

Considering they are a wood ant species and behave a bit like F. rufa, they have certainly settled in well in a Ytong nest. I have high hopes for them as they are a nice ant with smaller queens than Formica rufa.
