Today I finally managed to clean our hedgehog house out, this would normally be done in spring, but the bumble bees moved in before we could do it, but now they are gone, so thought I would give it a good clean before autumn comes. So was emptying out the old straw thinking, "thats funny looking straw", then my daughter screamed saying there were maggots at the bottom, well sad to say there was a hedgehog but it died in the house, probably over winter, or maybe one of the young from spring, and my funny looking straw was the hedgehog quills.

Sorry to hear about that Crockatt. My neighbour used to have a hedgehog in his garden too, he found it wandering around in the street and looked after it. It died about three or four years ago.

Been a few hog deaths in our street this past couple of years, just hope it isn't the end of them here.
