I had them too, and as mentioned before, they breed like crazy... Don't let them keep all of the eggs, I did and I had to give them away. I put an ad on the Internet and if someone wanted 10 I sent them 20-30. "Just to be sure they had 10 if someone died" ;-)

Our snails which are named nibbles and tibbles, were babies and very small when they arrived, but we have been weighing them every two weeks and they have doubled in weight each time, they very much like lettuce and cucumber, but have had no luck getting them to eat anything else!!!!, I find myself sneaking into my daughter's bedroom at night just to watch them.

We've had nibbles and tibbles for a while now and how they have grown, they are also laying eggs every 2 months and making them difficult to find, as I now have 71 baby snails (won't let that happen again) needless to say, come spring when it's warm enough to post them, I will be happy to give them away to anyone that would like some, for the cost of post and packing, feel free to get in touch if you would like any.

Fixed the photo for you. Also, that's an enormous brood! There's some albino land snails at the pet shop that I love the look of. On a slight tangent, I was reading a while back about how people would throw these snails away when they got too many of them, causing them to invade the local ecosystems. Apparently they've been known to eat the paint off walls!

Oh thanks for fixing the pic, I am useless with stuff like that, yeah I have been sure to tell anyone getting them, that it's illegal to realise them, I have always removed the eggs asap and frozen them, it is said that is the humain way to dispose of unwanted eggs, I would never intentionally hatch eggs, I couldn't get rid of, this one time being an accident, that I do not intend repeating, and I will keep them till I can re-home them. The one you see here are only about a 3rd of a batch of eggs, it would be extremely easy to get over run, my two adult snails could lay around 6000 eggs in a year.

I've only just noticed, but is that some sort of pink marker on the top adult's shell to tell them apart?

Yeah have to admit to my daughter marking them with nail polish, we used to be able to tell as one had a bad scar on its shell from a break (we think it fell of the roof of the tank) but it has grown that much the scar is underneath and we can no longer tell who is who.
