To all members of Ant Hill World.
I thought I would layout some reasons and facts as to why things are presented the way they are on this forum.
Proboards dictate their layouts, only changeable via provided plugins. So whilst members may ask me "Can we have certain things on the forum?" it is not always feasible, websites are much more amenable.
Members accounts are not deleted here because we have already tried this in the past, and it drastically lowers morale. People return sometimes after long absences, and have thanked me for keeping their account open. Whilst we prefer active members who post, we cannot dictate that registered members have to be active, it is their choice. Measures are in place that if they don't post, they won't see many of the boards anyway.
Archived material is collected as it contains valuable information for members in the future. Deleted threads and posts again can drop morale, especially if you are following a topic in particular and to find it suddenly gone. Editing and deletion is time controlled here.
Adverts, I am not personally willing to pay for their removal. But members can on their own account, so they don't see them when they have logged on. However, there is a plugin in place to send the adverts to the top of the forum above the banner. This will cause the banner to jump to allow the adverts in its place.
Whilst I take note of members suggestions about the forum, it is down to me whether I can apply the suggestion because of Proboards restrictions.
During the 9 year history of this forum, situations have arisen where certain members have questioned the reasons why certain decisions were made. Unfortunately, most members are not aware of the motives and underlying facts leading to the logical justification for how situations are dealt with. Some situations have reoccurring factors from history, which shows to be more memorable on a long standing forum.
If any member does not like it here, don't write derogatory posts about the forum or other members or aimed at other members. I would prefer it if you deleted your account, rather than goad me into giving you a ban.
We try to be open and honest here, as much as possible so enjoy your visits.
Thank you for reading.
