Sorry to say the queen died, my last colony lasted a long time so not sure if it was the ytong nest I made.

The first Atta pic gets the Wow factor, but the butterfly ones are also excellent too! That Macro lense is working well We will be venturing to Marwell Zoo this summer where they too have Attas, about £36 admission for 2 but it's a big park. Thanks The photos are the best of hundreds, the Attas just move like lightening and are not easy . You would easily go around the farm in a hour or less thats why is so cheap I think but you can come and go all day long.

Hi guys took the kids to Stratford Butterfly Farm yesterday, the weather was not to good and as its is all indoors it kept them happy (for a while anyway) and only cost £18.50 for the 4 of us I took the opportunity to take some photos plus they got some Leaf cutters (Atta cephalotes I believe) and many other insects A few pics IMG_2874_edited-1.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr IMG_2877_edited-1.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr IMG_2880.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr They move fast lol IMG_2883.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr And some Butterflys IMG_2891_edited-1.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr IMG_2863.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr IMG_2851_edited-1.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr IMG_2840_edited-1.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr IMG_2822.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr IMG_2786.JPG by Big-Pic, on Flickr

What tubing do people use for their ants to travel around in when expanding? Is it general aquarium air line tubing or something else? Thank you Got mine from B&Q (8mm I think it was)cheaper than Ebay I thought

Red ant with a nasty bite/sting? If you look in the journal section you will see a few members that have them or had them I've not had any luck with them myself I think Wood has a colony with a journal at the moment

This is my 3rd try, my first colony didn't start the queen failed my 2nd did well till I moved house and for some reason they not last long after the move I ordered a 'Mated Messor barbarus queen ant with eggs' from Queen Ant Shop on the 30th May she arrived on 11th june. She had a small pile of eggs and water at the end of the test tube, I have placed her in a warm and quite place and I will leave her for a few weeks or until she has her first workers. I am in the middle of making a Y-Tong nest for her and her sisters so I better get on with it

Well this is my 4th go at keeping L.niger. I ordered a Mated Queen Black Ant with 5-10 workers from Queen Ants Shop they arrived on the 1st June. They arrived safe and sound with a small pile of eggs, 5 workers and what looked like a happy queen I also ordered a Y-Tong nest from Queen Ants a few days later for them. I have attached the test tube to this but only 1 worker had a wonder around but no movement from the rest.
