Next year do you plan to add any additions to the colony, such as a new nest?

Next year do you plan to add any additions to the colony, such as a new nest? Don't think I will as colony seem to be keeping at around can safely say 1200 just over strong and nest can hold around 3000 easy.
But as for foraging tank I may have to get a larger one at some time if colony does grow.

Well she is now around 5 years old and colony has not grown much from last 3 years and keeping around the 1000 mark, So I don't think colony will but with saying that and with nest changed around alittle, they could grow to a larger size.

I truly hope they do, you take great care of them and it'd be a shame for them not to grow over the 2000 mark at least.

So to grow larger Shane would need to expand his set up by adding another nest for the colony population to overflow into, as then it could get larger and take in more food as the queen would lay eggs on a supply and demand basis.

I would need a bigger foraging tank to be honest as time to time the population do split with nest and foraging tank. As nest can be almost empty at times as colony use tubes and seem to mass in foraging tank like there going on a mass hunt some times, This mosty happens at night for some reason and some times in day when colony is most active.
The nest should hold a lot more even with stored seeds.
The heat to can make queen lay more eggs but like to keep colony to adapted to room temp

On the other side, would you really want a bigger colony? Imagine all the food they'd eat .

Will you ever be giving them a larger set up so they can grow more because it is a shame that they can't grow any bigger? Have they ever produced alates yet because I can't remember if they have produced alates or have they not produced them?

Have they ever produced alates yet because I can't remember if they have produced alates or have they not produced them. With life cycle there have workers and uk cool weather, they will keep around 1200 workers tops, The hotter the nest is then queen would lay more eggs and may have more then double the workers.
And no Alates but larvae are starting to get bigger this year .
