Any updates? I would love to hear more about yours messors, I have had my messors since november 2013 and the queen has only now laid eggs. There are 5 workers that are dealing with the seeds but the eggs are developing slowly.

I now have workers,I don't know how many as they all look the same at the moment, but there is definitely at least 2 as 1 likes going the hard way up the pot of soil and the other goes on the stick I have put in to make it a easier climb. They have taken seeds and chicken into the small pot of soil. So all is good really.

I now have 5 workers and they all seem quite content in emptying the pot of soil. Last Saturday I thought I would clean the sand which had a few pieces of soil left in when the queen first started digging into the pot.I sieved all the sand and got most of the soil from it.Then within about 2 hours it was as if the workers didn't want it so started bringing out various sizes of soil from within the pot.

Well I have 10 + ants now.I do not think I`ll have much soil in the pot at the rate they are all digging it out.

I spotted my first major this morning and it's head was still white.I don't know if it's normal but it was wondering around and all of a sudden a worker tried pulling it then 4 workers were pulling it.I am hoping they were trying to move it back to the nest but the major was slumped on its side looking dead. Any ideas any one.

Might be major control. I have known colonies to kill off majors/soldiers because of food issues or just population control.

Only pupa have white heads and bodies. If an adult ant looks like that then there must be something wrong, as it should be darker in colour. A pupa should look like this, but an older callow ant is more like an adult worker, just a bit paler.

I wasn't sure if it had maybe wandered out of the nest by mistake and they were trying to get it back in.The majors head was only white as if it had only just come to life and just started to blacken.

Anyone know why they carry each other about? Over the last 3 days I've seen this a lot.Its like they are being given a guided tour around the formicarium. The first time I saw this I thought it was a dead worker but after a bit of time it was laid gently on the floor and off it went.Just wondering why they do this?
