Still no activity for nearly 2 weeks now. Has been burrowed ever since. When I'll see it I don't know.

@joshjw
The heatmat is located beneath the storage box where I'm keeping the T. It can raise the temperature from 23C to 24.5C within the hour, and 24.5C to 26C in 2 hours. But I like to keep it above 24C to keep it's growth rate at it's maximum.
It will be extremely useful in the summer.
The heat meat is only 28 Watts.

Fly has now burrowed completely at the point where I can't see it any more. Fingers crossed, my new IP Camera will be able to catch a glimpse of it in action throughout the night!

I will be adding a WiFi IP Camera in the T's enclosure on Wednesday so I can keep tabs on Fly whilst I'm away. It's night vision also with infra-red sensors and motion detection. I'm hoping to see some movement in the night when it's most active. It would be useful if it ever moults during night time also

It's massive already! Mine just runs away from live food and buries itself. Yeah. I've been power feeding it up until this day so that it has enough mass for it's next malt, then I'll take it easy on it's feed then. I'm looking into getting another T soon.

OK, its been a long time but I finally have a chance of work... This is it, just sitting, literally, on the phone waiting for someone to ring about a job. I had a cracking interview, I have all the qualifications so is this the open door for me!!! Best of luck. Employers often look for work experience also. voluntary for example in that specific department. Heck, I'm still doing voluntary work at a computer shop by me because I can't find work. I hate not doing nothing

New queens were caught and put together from the same flight. L.niger queens will raise their brood together, but eventually the workers will decide which is the dominant queen take on her scent and will kill the other less dominant queen. Keepers use this method to gain a bigger colony quicker, but if you want you can split them. Flavus however are quite happy to bring the colony up with no challenge. If I had kept the niger queens in the jar I caught them in overnight, then they would have killed each other by exuding formic acid in droplets, as the stress levels increase. This happened to us when I caught some up Goodwood not far from here, because I didn't have enough containers at that time. You can't put too many together, not even for a few hours. Well... I've learnt something new today. Didn't know this was possible. I can see the good side to it on raising brood quicker though!

2 Queens in the same test tube? How does that work out?
They don't kill each other? different scent?

All is still well. Fly has moved again to a smaller burrow. She/he has also built some sort of wall structure on the entrance to the burrow. Looks like bits of wood.
Getting some black crickets today and might start gut loading them ready for Wednesday's feed.

I've fed Fly twice yesterday, and once this morning. Seeing as the maggots I'm feeding it are small. I can't get Crickets until tomorrow.
So What I'm doing is feeding it once in the morning and once in the evening as it's a fast growing tarantula. Looking forward to the day it malts!

Woah! didn't knew this thread existed. Those Mantids are incredible! watching it in a time-lapse eating that fly! This is definitely something I'd think about getting next.
