Day three - Ok the Queen has moved out of the test tube and buried herself in the sand. I checked the test-tube and all brood went with her! Temp is about 30 Degrees in my office so nice and warm for her!
When my children find return my camera I will get snaps!

Hello, nope, she moved out of the test-tube about 18!
I purchased her end of 2012ish, and she has struggled since.

Queen arrived this morning with a small clutch of brood. I have kept her in the TT but placed it in the formicarium she eventually will inhabit. (Its a plastic one from Antstore). She looks healthy.
Photos will follow soon!

Well, it seems the two workers have passed on and have left the Camp Latteralis to fend for herself again!
So, would it be prudent if I removed her from the heated room and placed her in a stage of semi-hibernation?
She has no brood and like I said above her two workers died pretty much within a week of each other. She looks fit and healthy.

And yes, business's SHOULD let you know one way or another. I will be honest, only one or two have done that to me. For me the worst are the ones who you apply to and they don't even acknowledge your application (nature or the internetverse).
I suffer from anxiety and I get myself worked up. When I work it disappears (I am worried about being left on the scrap heap!).

I got it, confirmation came this morning woohooo. I had to drive to Leeds to do a PTTLS3 micro-teach, and I believe that went well! So finally things are looking rosy! I am going to take my time, keep my head down (the proverbial way as it is a sales job) and get on with it!

OK, its been a long time but I finally have a chance of work... This is it, just sitting, literally, on the phone waiting for someone to ring about a job.
I had a cracking interview, I have all the qualifications so is this the open door for me!!!

Just on the final series of Spartacus. Have to say WOW. Apart from Game of Thrones and the Sopranos this is another excellent piece of TV!
I will admit I was a bit 'shy' at watching it at first, I didnt realise how much blood, gore and sexual scenes it carried! So when I say shy I mean; my mother in law lives with my wife and I, and she wanted to watch it to compare it to her version of Spartacus. So I almost curled into a ball at most scenes! I am glad to say she said it was not as good as her Spartacus and left our side of the house.

Yay, I caught up and very gruesome. I hope 'the imp' survives after his champion was erm 'killed'. He is bound to. But I said that about 'Richard Sharpe' (Ned Starke) and he was killed!

Here goes, I attempted a journal on another forum but I got distracted. Time to try again.
OK, I have a small tank from Antstore with a Camp Lateralis Queen and x2 workers and some eggs. on the 29 May they moved out of the test tube and went down a pre-made hole. There they have been since, until today at 17:45 after putting a brine shrimp 'block' in a worker emerged and started to check it out. I can see a little movement in the nest area but it is mainly covered by the sand.
Images will eventually follow!
I keep the tank at 30degrees constantly (with a light timer set from 10 - 18.00) the night time temp goes down to 19 degrees (my average room temp. The tank has salamis (?) stones at the bottom holding water with a tube (blocked by cotton). So I presume it is humid under the ground. The surface is quite warm and dry.

OK, the Herc is now x1Q and x5worker strong (with larvae). If you remember this Queen never raised any colony last year. The Lig colony is x1Q and about 10/11 workers (and brood). I will go and find suitable boxes and before packing should I block any holes with cotton wool (so they say in the brood area)? As soon as I find something I will put the official ad on here

Cheers, I'll sort them now. I didn't want to say what I was selling (It is Camp Hercs and Lig) because I do not really want to sell them, but I must. I will wrap them in there formicariums and write in BIG letters VERY FRAGILE/LIVE ANIMALS. In the hope the couriers respect it! I will also remove as much sand, rocks I have in there (they are plastic anyway so I can bury them in a deep box).

I am considering selling. I am just wondering how do I 'pack' them. Or do I just pack and hope they get there in good condition. Once I have packing sorted I will put a price on them Cheers Stuart

Hello,
I am selling two colonies (I need space as my clan is expanding!). So can I enquire, what will be the best way to send ants, already established in a formicarium?
Ultimately if the buyer lives close enough I would quite happily meet half way.
Thank you,
Stu The Ant
PS, I am not selling all my colonies, just after my initial start-up mad phase (we have all suffered it I am sure) I realise they do need more than I can offer!
